Karen Smith, Faces of Tanzania

Karen Smith is more than just a skillful photographer. Her prior training in anthropology, plus years of return visits to Tanzania, have given her a depth of understanding of the remarkably resilient people of this vast and varied East African country. Through her work, we see images of Maasai warriors, women and children whose boma is in the Great Rift Valley, and Chagga children who live on the slopes of Kilimanjaro artfully captured in vivid detail. Touched by the kindness and generosity of these people, she offers up to them 100 percent of the profits of the sale of each photograph on display, which helps to provide food, water, medicine, and education. We are proud to host this exhibit and eager to support her in this cause. To see more of Karen's work, visit her Web site.
