Jon Stuber and Friends: A Celebration of Music for Organ and Instruments May 22, 2005
The next recital on the Celebration Works series features First Presbyterian's own organist, Dr. Jon Stuber, along with guest musicians Wendy Bamonte, flute; Karen Bjorge, French horn; Lori Presthus, cello; Renate Kreutzer, alto recorder; Ann van Bever, English horn; and the Women's Schola Cantorum. This recital is intended to showcase the flexibility of the Jaeckel organ both as a solo instrument and as a chamber music instrument. In addition to the works for organ and other instruments, Stuber has programmed three solo works: the Fantasy and Fugue in G Minor by J.S. Bach, a movement from a Symphony by Louis Vierne, and Three Settings on the Magnificat by Marcel Dupré. "The goal of the recital is to highlight the various tonal colors and range of First Presbyterian's unique 69-rank pipe organ," said Stuber.
The recital is on Sunday, May 22, at 3 p.m. Tickets are on sale Sundays after worship in Geneva Hall or may be purchased at the door. Adults: $10; Seniors/Students: $5.
