Don't miss the special benefit concert by Ring of Fire!
On Sunday, May 23, at 3 p.m., nationally acclaimed handbell ensemble Ring of Fire will present a benefit concert in our sanctuary. There is no charge for the concert, but a free-will offering will be accepted. Money collected will go to paying the costs of the concert and to supporting the Celebration Works series at First Church.
Ring of Fire is based in the Pacific Northwest, a region known for its volcanic activity. The group was founded by Jason Wells in 1997 at Tualatin Valley Junior Academy in Hillsboro, Oregon. Over 40 musicians have been a part of the Ring of Fire adventure in the past 7 seasons. This year the thirteen musicians are ages 13 to 16 and in the eighth, ninth, and tenth grades. They are widely known for their fiery music, a unique spirited style, and their ability to perform their entire repertoire from memory! Their performance is an explosive combination of exuberant youth, an energetic director, and the brilliance of 61 bronze bells! Ring of Fire has performed at presidential inaugurations, September 11 memorial services in New York and Washington, DC, on television and radio, with the Oregon Symphony in November 2003, and toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe. First Church is honored to present this special ensemble. Make plans now to attend. For more information about Ring of Fire, visit their Web site at www.rof.org. |
