"Pipes and Strings" recital January 20![]() The next Celebration Works concert is coming up on Sunday, January 20, at 3 p.m. The program is titled "Pipes & Strings" and will feature organist Jon Stuber and violinist Mary Rowell. Along with solo works for the two instruments, the program will also include duets for violin and organ as well as a Bach trio sonata for flute, violin, cello and organ. Mary plans to perform the Telemann Fantasias for solo violin, a charming work that spans the Baroque styles of the day. Jon will perform Lubeck's partita on Nun lasst uns Gott dem Herren, a set of 6 variations which feature many of the tonal colors of the Jaeckel organ. In addition, the performers will offer Josef Rheinberger's Suite, Op. 166, for violin and organ as an introduction to the composer's music. More Rheinberger will be heard on Trinity Sunday (May 18) when the Chancel Choir sings his Cantus Missae. |
