Chroma Brass Quintet

On Sunday, November 27, at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary, First Presbyterian's resident brass ensemble, the Chroma Brass Quintet, will perform on the Celebration Works series. Featuring trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba, this quintet explores the many colors of brass instruments. If you enjoy the music of the Canadian Brass, you will enjoy this recital, too.

The members of the group are Steve Conrow and Garen Horgen, trumpets; Jen Harrison, horn; Greg Scholl, trombone; and JáTtik Clark, tuba. They will offer a recital entitled "Journey Through the Ages," which will include music for brass instruments ranging from the Renaissance to the twentieth century. Music of the Renaissance will use the organ playing from the choir loft and the brass playing from the balcony. This antiphonal technique was first used in churches like St. Mark's in Venice during the Renaissance era. The Chroma Brass plans to feature the music of William Brade from the Renaissance, Bach and Telemann from the Baroque Age, Mozart from the Classical Age, and Eric Ewazen from the Modern Era.

As always, Celebration Works ticket prices are affordable and are sold at the door. Adult tickets are $10 and student and senior (65+) tickets are $5.
