Chamber Choir Concert on March 5First Presbyterian's concert series, Celebration Works, continues on Sunday, March 5, with a concert by the FPC Chamber Choir directed by Jon Stuber. A select group of singers chosen from the Chancel Choir, this ensemble rehearses weekly and sings during worship services and special events. The concert is at 3 pm in the Chapel. Seating will be limited. The choir plans a program entitled "Songs for the Journey." The cycle of songs will lead the listener from darkness into light, on a spiritual journey and on a journey home. The music, by composers ranging from Gustav Holst to Morten Lauridsen, will set a mood of comfort and homecoming. One section of the program will feature spirituals set by Moses Hogan and Alice Parker, two of the most beloved composers of choral music in America. The Chamber Choir gave a preview of these spirituals at the Annual Meeting on January 29 to the delight of the congregation and will give more previews of the music in service on February 26 and March 5. |
