How to Become a Member of First Presbyterian Church

Membership in the church of Jesus Christ is through baptism and profession of one's faith in Christ as Lord and Savior. In baptism we receive the mark of God's ownership of us in Christ and are welcomed into the household of faith. In profession of faith we claim for ourselves our Christian identity and commit ourselves to live as Christ's faithful follower in the world.

Persons are received into the membership of First Presbyterian in the following ways:

  • By baptism and profession of faith.
  • By profession of faith, if baptized in infancy
  • By reaffirmation of faith for those who have been baptized and previously made a profession of faith.
  • By transfer of membership for those who are active members of other congregations.
Prospective members are invited to attend a Member Information Program offered periodically throughout the year for a thorough, insightful, and enjoyable overview of who we are as Presbyterians--our history and beliefs, our ministry and mission, our life and fellowship, and the opportunities for you to grow in your faith and discipleship provided through First Presbyterian. Child care is provided. Participants will then be received into membership the following Sunday.

Member events will be held on the following dates:

2008 dates are still being determined. Contact Mary Barrett if you have any questions.
